Laura Tijsterman

Laura Tijsterman is a painter who encapsulates the flow of abstract expressionism and impressionism. Through her art, Tijsterman ventures into a deep inner journey, exploring the challenges and pleasures of life with a particular focus on female sensuality/sexuality and the complex relationship with body and identity. Born in the United Kingdom in 1975 and currently residing in The Netherlands, the artist transforms her imagination combined with personal experiences into energetic works of art. Tijsterman often uses colour as a medium to dance through the complexities of existence.

Each painting becomes an invitation for the observer to immerse themselves into hidden emotions and discover the richness of meanings that lie beyond the surface. Most of her paintings hold a double entendre. Her art is a unique sensory experience, a journey that celebrates personal expression as a reflection of the soul. In a world where communication often limits itself to words, Tijsterman reminds us that the true message manifests through color and silence, inviting each of us to explore the beauty of life in all its facets.

“..art is a matter of personal opinion and it’s okay to be yourself in the purist form, to be able to be perceptive without words or speech is enlightening..”
