A wet desire represents a raw, exposed torso. A close-up, almost a
confrontation. The damp line suggests we are witnessing a moment in
the aftermath. We observe, very closely, a woman’s body after exertion:
workout, sex or a striptease?
A headless body, devoid of identity. Raw flesh, a latent desire. The
viewer looks from the outside into the interior of the painting, as if
through a window or a cinema frame. An off-centre image, evoking a
desire yet to be imagined.
In the back of the canvas is the key, the culprit. A curved penis.
In contrast to the intense physical and erotic attraction that emanates
from the front, the reverse reveals its brutality; despite the eroticism we
might like to believe in, it is nothing more than sex. Nothing more but
life and death. Raw and naked.
Eros and Thanatos.
