Mercedes Diaz
I am Mercedes Díaz Barreiro, a Mexican photographer currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Photography at Norwich University of the Arts.
My practice is rooted in a fascination with the essence and purpose of people and objects, which I explore through studio portraiture within a fine art context.
Raised in an artistic household, I developed an early appreciation for the expressive power of colour and culture, deeply influenced by the rich folklore of my homeland, Mexico.
After earning my International Baccalaureate diploma, I moved abroad driven by a desire to engage with other cultures and opportunities.
This journey has shaped my work, which centres on themes of womanhood, the appreciation towards nature, cultural pride and identity, all expressed through a considered use of light, form and composition in the studio.
