Maryon Shaddock

I became an amateur artist when I retired; rekindling something that I loved when I was at school and a passion for a curriculum subject I loved to teach in my previous career. I enjoy trying out different styles of painting as well as different media.
My work comes from photographs I have taken or I gain inspiration from places, objects or pictures I have seen. I used to think more about the detail than the image I was creating and would end up with much less than the accurate portrayals I wanted. I have learnt to be freer in my style and looser with my definition and feel that although this has made my art more abstract it has also allowed me to develop my own unique style.
They say life is a journey, but so is art. I look forward to continuing my voyage of discovery.
